passport control cruiseLet’s start with Passports

The first thing you need to do is check that your passports have the various visas for you to travel in the different country’s ports. In the USA a lot of the islands of the Caribbean do not need visa, if you live in Europe most European regions are covered by the European Union passport, which will work in most of the Caribbean island. But you may need a visa for the Middle East or Asia you must check with the Embassy of the country’s that you will be visiting; you will also need to check with your doctor to make sure that you have all the vaccination needed for your trip.

When you buy your tickets a lot of the cruise lines state the must buy travel insurance when you book your ticket or you may be refused travel.   With some cruises you may Fly-Cruise    Some cruise operators offer fly cruise where you fly to your destination then you are transferred from the airport to your port of call. This is normal for a lot of the i.e Caribbean cruises from the UK where you take a flight from Gatwick, LHR, Manchester etc to Barbados, Miami Florida, maybe stay over night in a hotel then transport in the morning to your departure port you will be given the flight details ahead of your travel unfortunate you are not in control of the flight carrier which will properly be a charter flight, in most cases there will be an flight upgrade for a small fee.   Some travellers may decide to book there own flights, you must remember if you decide and you flights delayed the cruise ship may not wait as they cannot control your flight. With a fly cruise I let the cruise operator take care of all my fights, once my flight was late 90% of the passengers were also going on the same cruise so the ship had to wait for us even though we were 6 hours late. Picture above shows passengers waiting for departure, wasnt happy but was not long as thought.
