How to Eat and Drink Safely
Information fron the UK Goverment website: Many people suffer from an upset stomach or diarrhoea because of something they have eaten or drunk abroad.
More seriously, cholera, typhoid and hepatitis A can be contracted from contaminated food and water.
Don’t get ill
- always wash your hands after going to the toilet, before handling food and before eating
- use bottled water if you have any doubts about the quality of the water. Check the seals are unbroken
- boil water or filter it using a water ‘purifier’ – this is more effective than sterilisation tablets
- eat fresh, thoroughly cooked food that is still piping hot
- avoid food that has been kept warm
You should avoid
- ice used in drinks and used to keep food cool, unless you’re sure it is made from treated or chlorinated water
- uncooked fruit and vegetables, unless you can peel them yourself
- food exposed to flies
- ice cream from unreliable sources, such as kiosks or mobile traders
- milk, cheese and other dairy products unless they are pasteurised and have been properly refrigerated
- undercooked or raw seafood or shellfish
- excessive amounts of alcohol

Nile Cruise Excursions
May 10th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedThe Excursions on the Nile can be Paid for in a few different ways, some travel agents give you the all inclusive (AI) which you will find in the brochures, the itinerary’s start from Monday to Monday or Wednesday to Wednesday, looking at various websites for this ship (MS Fleurette) you would believe that the cruise started only on a Monday, I had to check with my agent to make sure that the date on the ticket was correct.
We started Mid week on the Wednesday 30/05 We paid for the full board package which has a few sights to see, if you want to benefit from the cruise go for the all inclusive or pay for it on board, we paid an £68 extra per person for the full excursion. Read the rest of this entry »

Cruise Review - How To Avoid A Nightmare Cruise Experience
January 8th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedAssessing the merits of a cruise review means comparing it against others of a similar nature. Instead of relying on one review before making a decision about whether to book a vacation, shop around and read as many other reviews as you can find.
The main reason concentrating on one assessment is not good practice is it could either be completely biased, which could mean the author has a vested interest or the opposite and believe it or not, some people are simply too hard to please.
Cruise Reviews On The Web
The internet is a vastly growing community catering to all sorts of topics and sea-based holidays are no different. Many websites offer the option to readers to submit a review and many take them up on the offer.
What this means for you as a shopper is you’re able to witness first hand the experiences people have gone through on particular ships. Cruise critics are well worth taking notice of.
Many of these critics love the opportunity to comment and will give kudos where it’s due and criticism when needed. Companies also make note of the feedback so they can either improve in a particular area or maintain current high standards.
Cruise Review Forums
If you are undecided about your next vacation and tossing up between particular companies then the ultimate decider could be achieved with a visit to a cruise forum.
There are several of these forums gaining prominence on the web and they are worth visiting. The great thing about these meeting places is there will always be people who have traveled on the ship you’re considering. As a source for a cruise review, they are an invaluable asset and should be utilized frequently.
One of the main pitfalls for new cruisers especially is deciding if the price of a holiday is as cheap a deal as is being advertised. Yes the price may be a bargain but remember, the prices for several amenities on the ship itself can be expensive by land based standards. A forum is a great environment to get an unbiased and honest cruise review.

Cruise Package - The Truth About Cruise Packages
January 4th, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedFinding the perfect cruise package holiday for yourself is a little like “taking a stab in the dark” especially if you have never cruised before.
It’s time to rely on recommendations and your best source of recommendations will come from your travel agents. With the power of the internet and with more and more people using it’s wide reach and abundance of information, travel agents appear to have become a little forgotten. Or so it seems.
Your travel agent is expert in recommending the right cruise package for you. It’s what they do for a living so don’t underestimate their resourcefulness in both finding the perfect cruise solution for you and also the best price.
Online Cruise Forums
These are another powerful way to gather information on where you should cruise at any given time of the year. Cruise forums offer a wealth of information and experience and should be high on your agenda when searching for a cruise package.
People love to talk about their vacations and forums are an ideal avenue for them to get it all out in the open. People also like to critique and if you have several cruise packages in mind and are not sure which one to take then simply find a forum or forums and ask questions. There will be no shortage of responses.
Choosing A Cruise Line
There is no shortage of cruise lines to choose from. Some specializes in particular types of holidays while others will sail at specific times of the year. Here’s a short list of cruise lines to choose from:
- Carnival Cruise Lines
- Princess, Costa Cruise Lines
- NCL
- Royal Caribbean
- Disney Cruises
- Celebrity Cruises
- Crystal Cruises
- Cunard Line
- Holland America Line
- Norwegian Cruise Line
Others to consider include MSC Cruises, Silversea, Windstar Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Line, Uniworld River Cruises, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
What type of cruise are you interested in? These are just some of the cruises available: luxury cruises, sail ship cruises, river cruises, seniors cruising, golf cruises, and anything from weddings and honeymoons to business incentive and education on vacation can also be found.
The price of your cruise package will depend a lot on the length, destination, time of the year and the class of state room you’re after. Cruise packages can start as low as $200-$300 for three nights/four days and can rise to several thousand dollars.
